European Agriculture: Crop Profitability and Input Demand
The 2009 European Agriculture report is the latest in our series of bi-annual reports on European agriculture. It monitors and forecasts crop profitability and input demand in:
1) The European Union (by member state)
2) The Black Sea (Russia and Ukraine)
It offers a comprehensive analysis of the competitiveness of major arable crops in farm rotations across Europe. It also provides a lead indicator of farmers’ intentions for the coming season and beyond, with projections of changes in profitability and crop areas. This year we have also extended the service to include demand forecasts for seeds and fertiliser.
The service includes two reports – the main report issued end June and a supplementary report to be issued in November 2008. This means that we are now able to distinguish between area plantings for the spring crop and also the winter crop.
The reports deliver critical information, unavailable elsewhere in its scope and analysis:
* Tracks policies that influence planting decisions and the production of arable crops
* Presents the farm gate price outlook for the 2010 crop and the next decade
* Estimates the costs of growing these crops in each country. The report applies a consistent
methodology that enables costs to be compared across countries/regions
* Determines the prices that farmers will require to grow each major arable crop
* Forecasts arable crop profitability for the 2010 crop and the next decade
* Projects changes in crop areas in Europe by country
* Forecasts demand for seed and NPK fertiliser
Subscribers can opt to take the full service covering both the EU and Russia and Ukraine or can choose to take one of these regions.
