Oil Palm Service: Indonesia & Malaysia

Indonesia and Malaysia together supply close to 90% of the world’s palm oil production but the two industries are far from identical. Conditions and output vary greatly in terms of production, processing, trade and industry structure. These differences have a significant impact upon performance and profitability.

LMC’s Oil Palm Service forecasts CPO and PKO production by individual region in Indonesia and Malaysia up to 2 years ahead. As the year unfolds we provide updated forecasts of CPO and PKO output each quarter, with sensitivity analysis capturing different climate scenarios e.g., El Niño or La Niña. We also provide projections of downstream processing – refining, oleochemicals and biodiesel.

These forecasts build upon a consistent and reliable historical dataset that has been carefully cross-checked and verified by LMC. This dataset covers for each region in Indonesia and Malaysia:

Regional coverage within each country

  • North Sumatra (incl Aceh)
  • Central Sumatra (Jambi, Riau, West Sumatra)
